My dear friends Keeyeon & Youngwan asked me to write a song for their beautiful newborn daughter Ayune (아윤). As fate would allow it, I finished writing this lullaby in time for her 100 day anniversary (백일), which in at least Korean culture is a special time honored tradition. Keeyeon tells me the first time they played it for Ayune that she had been crying, but during the song she stopped. That made me feel all good inside :)
Towards the end of the song there's a short traditional Korean lullaby melody I added in the background for those of you that might know it. It goes something like "자장 자장 우리 아기..."
lyrics
"HUSH NOW, BABY"
I will hold you in my arms
Lay your head to rest
I will keep you safe from harm
So hush now, baby
Don't cry
Baby, don't cry tonight
Look where you are
You're safe in my arms
So don't cry tonight
You have made our house a home
You can stay for life
Your mother loves the way you smile
And so do I
So hush now, baby
Don't cry
Baby, don't cry tonight
We'll always be here
There's nothing to fear
So don't cry tonight
Baby, don't cry
Baby, don't cry tonight
You've given us love
And more than enough
So don't cry tonight
Don't cry
Don't cry
Hush now, baby
